OLB Bruce Irvin-West Virginia

Height: 6’3

Weight: 245 lbs.

Grade: 6.8 F (Grading Scale)

Projection: Round 2

Strengths:

Quite possible could have the best first step of any pass rush prospect in this entire draft…shows the athleticism and bend that you want out of OLB prospect…flies all over the field to make plays…really makes OT think with his ability and speed off the edge…has the athleticism to fake outside and shoot the inside B gap…could be very dangerous coming off a stunt if the OG is even half a step slow to pick up the twist…may not be a QB currently in the NFL who can outrun Irvin when he’s in pursuit…closes well and hits with a vengeance.

Weaknesses:

He’s very small in terms of his bulk for the position…must get stronger at the POA and work on his technique when it comes to disengaging from blocks…played in a 3-3-5 scheme that has little to not NFL relevance so he may take some time to adjust…could get the Aaron Maybin label by many fans and analysts….does too much lunging in the open field for our liking, needs to get back to the fundamentals when it comes to tackling and wrap up the ball carrier…depends too much on his speed and athletic ability, will have to learn how to use his hands more effectively along with adding some power rush moves to his repertoire.

Notes:

Irvin v. LSU

Irvin v. UConn

Irvin v. Clemson
